Our Tokyo Trip (photos + a video!)

IMG_5758b.jpg

Last week, Jason and I celebrated our second anniversary with the trip of a lifetime: seven days in Tokyo! We wandered our way through most of the city, ate everything we could find, and checked off our entire Tokyo bucket list and then some. I've compiled some of my favorite snapshots of our week, plus a little vacation video, if you'd like to see:

One of my favorite parts of Japanese fashion is how much they love to wear (poorly translated) English! I may have bought one or two really good ones to bring home as souvenirs ;)

New Collection from CB2

You guys, CB2 has some new stuff out. And it's modern meets glam meets minimal meets just plain GOOD. It's also a pretty fair balance of masculine and feminine style, which is something I notice now that I'm thinking about my future shared space with J. I've compiled a few of my favorites to get you started, but you should really go take a peek for yourself:

Friday Five: Pineapples!

Hello! It's finally Friday, AND a long weekend. If that's not a reason to celebrate with some Memorial Day sale shopping, then I don't know what is. If you're looking to add a few summer-inspired pieces to your closet or home, try something fruity! My favorite fruit style right now has to be pineapples, and I'm not alone. They're everywhere! Here are five pineapple-themed pieces I'm loving:

Pineapples

This refreshing trend is one of my favorites for the summer, but it can also easily go childish or tacky. Here are just a couple tips for wearing or decorating with fruit:

keep the color palette chic mixing the bright, primary colors of fruit can look kindergarten-esque so try picking one, or opt for prints in "unnatural" shades (ie muted tones or black and white) stick to one fruit piece wearing head-to-toe fruit can look like a costume, and when used in decor it can look like you're setting up for a luau pick pieces that showcase only one type of fruit—like pineapples! mixing multiple fruits can look kinda jumbled and can go "baby" in a heartbeat

Try it out for yourself, and let me know what you think! xoxo

Gift It: Valentine's Day

Happy Monday, everyone! Today starts the last week of January, and the internet has already exploded with Valentine's Day madness. J and I aren't big celebrators of this day, mostly because we have several other "more important" holidays that follow close behind (birthdays and our anniversary, I mean). Because we'll be so far apart this year, and because he'll be coming to visit for his birthday/spring break in a month or so, J and I have decided to save our money and energy and not celebrate at all this year (not including a phone call or Skype chat, I'm sure). Nonetheless, it's hard not to love all the red and pink gorgeousness floating around the stores lately, so I've put together a few (budget-friendly) suggestions for gifts for the ladies. And yes, buying yourself a gift for Valentine's Day totally counts. Enjoy! (:

Currently Craving: Travel

The longer I spend away from J and the closer it gets to his visit, the more I find myself daydreaming about our travel plans. We both grew up travelling, both around the country and abroad, and we plan to continue that together. While we do have to be apart for the next few years, we're planning on weekend visits and getaways to help bridge the distance. Here are just a few of the things I'm craving for travelling, along with a couple must-haves!

Travel1. Corkboard map Such a cute way to document your travels

2. Snake print flats A neutral print like this adds some interest, and can be worn with anything

3. Pink sweater A pop of a bright solid color is easy to wear without being boring, and sweaters are great for chilly flights and unexpected weather

4. Chain strap watch Simple (and cheap!), and perfect for catching flights, showtimes, and dinner reservations

5. Camera bag Looks and works like a handbag, but with a secured section for your camera! Much better than lugging around a traditional camera bag, or tossing your camera into your purse to get scratched and tossed around

6. Hidden arch supports You never know how long those airport lines will be, or when impromptu sightseeing could strike; be prepared!

7. Facial wipes These are a favorite of mine on a regular basis, and are a definite must when travelling

8. Passport holder Your passport is the most important thing when travelling abroad, why not make it stylish while keeping it protected?
