Hello Baby!

On April 30, right on her due date and 10 minutes before my scheduled OB appointment, our little Edie made her (very punctual) debut! And while I meant to share her finished nursery before then, things happened, naps were taken, and deadlines were missed. Oops.

So here we are, 5.5 weeks later, and I finally have a free moment (and enough sleep to not need that free moment for a nap) to post the pictures of her space! I let Jason pick the theme, though I use that word loosely because super theme-y spaces aren’t really my style, and he settled on “space.” With a modern black & white base and lots of pops of bright color, it’s a perfect compromise between our style and kid-friendly fun. And while I feel like the room will probably keep changing and evolving as she starts living in here and her personality starts to show, I’m loving where it’s starting.

Here’s her space, with a very cute cameo at the end:

Jason made the neon “shhh” sign, and I made her name pennant, and I love that there are little handmade touches throughout the room to show baby girl how excited we were for her to get here, and how much we love her.

This board and batten wall was another labor of love, and adds a little character to this builder-grade room.

Hi, Edie! I can’t wait to watch you grow up in this room.

Friday Five: Blue Nails

One of my favorite trends right now is adding a pop of blue with nail color. Having a "cool" complexion and lighter hair, I've always favored blues and greens in my wardrobe, but adding it to the ends of my fingers is a nice switch! Take a break from the usual pink and red polishes for spring and add an unexpected splash of blue to your look. From bright cobalt to baby hues, here's the lineup of my current five favorite blue shades, along with a little blue inspiration from my Pinterest:

1. Blue My Mind from OPI 2. Keks from Butter London 3. Jacuzzi from Sephora 4. Lapis of Luxury from Essie 5. Not A Cloud In The Sky from L'Oreal

Happy Friday! Everyone take a deep breath, the weekend is FINALLY here. It's been a pretty busy (and expensive) couple of weeks for me, and it doesn't look like that's going to change for at least a couple more. Btw—tires are the second least fun thing to spend money on in the entire world, right behind taxes. If you're feeling the stress like I am, or if you're counting down the hours until the weekend, here are a few things to take your mind off it. Enjoy!

I'm generally not a fan of his movies, but this makes me love Seth Rogan. Way to play with my emotions, guys. A simple (& surprisingly interesting) formula for finding your "model name." Mine's Ori Jaune. Tre chic! This makes a really good point about gender-centric baby showers. Babies and puppies! Eeek!
