Craigslist Catch: modern office chair

After a small summer hiatus, we are back with another edition of Craigslist Catch! This week's steal is a gorgeous tufted faux leather chair with a bent metal frame:

I'm imagining it going to live out its golden years in a sophisticated, modern-meets-boho office space, like one of these:

Because it's been listed for a while, I'd try to haggle it down a little closer to the $50 mark. I'd pair it with a clean-lined white desk, warm up the space with artwork and a vintage rug in peachy tones, and toss a faux-sheepskin rug over its back. I could definitely see myself upping my productivity in an inspiring workspace like this!

Now someone, go save it!

Craigslist Catch: vintage egg chair

In honor of summer's appearance, I set out looking for some patio furniture for this week's Craigslist Catch. And OH BOY, did the 'list deliver. Just look at this magical treasure I uncovered:

I joke with J that this blog segment is going to cost us so much money because how in the world am I supposed to find gorgeous steals like this and not want to bring them home to live with us?! At least until I find a good home for it ;) This beauty deserves to live out its life on a covered porch, somewhere with warm weather and maybe a sea breeze or two. Imagine having your morning coffee while curled up on hanging chair one of these perfect porches:

This particular chair has such beautiful clean lines, it was practically calling out for an elegant and serene Hamptons-resort-meets-Alys-Beach-modern situation. I kept the color palette neutral, using black and white accents to contrast the natural elements like the rattan chair and grass fringe pillow. The perfect mini oasis:

Sigh. So dreamy. Who wouldn't want to spend Sunday morning on this porch?

Craigslist Catch: bathroom storage

One of the most common and most overlooked items on Craigslist is the china cabinet. I get it—they're a little old-fashioned, often oversized, and they tend to become catchalls for clutter and dust. BUT, in the right room for the right purpose: gold.

I was searching Craigslist with that idea in mind when this beauty caught my eye. It's smaller in size than most, and doesn't have the dated, ornate floral carvings you see on a lot of old china cabinets:

Perfect, and kind of a steal. And, no work needed! This piece is just begging to be put to use as stylish bathroom storage, like this:

Paired with clean chrome fixtures and a cool vintage rug, the hutch looks right at home in this traditional-with-a-twist bathroom design:

Our next house NEEDS a bigger bathroom so I can make this happen. Can you be jealous of your own design ideas? Because I am.

Craigslist Catch: cane-back rattan dining chairs

Craigslist is one of my favorite places to hunt for furniture and decor, whether I'm sourcing for a project or redesigning my own home (again). It takes time, patience, and a keen eye for sifting through the loads and loads of garbage—sometimes literally—to find those specks of pure gold. And while I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon, I know it's not for everyone. That's where I come in. Just think of me as your Craigslist middleman.

In these recurring "Craigslist Catch" posts, I'm going to be sharing some of my favorite finds from the classifieds, along with some style inspiration, a few tips on how I'd fix them up, and what other pieces I'd pair them with. First up, these beautiful cane-back rattan dining chairs:

Four chairs for $200 is a pretty good deal, but these have been listed for a few weeks now, and the cushions need definite work, so with some negotiating I'd say you could get the price down closer to $100.

The caning on the backs is in great shape, and with a little cleaning up these babies would be perfect in a laid-back, modern-industrial-meets-California-cool kitchen:

See? Look at them up close. I'm seriously tempted. After a good scrub, I'd recover the cushions in one of these three fabrics:

Then, to really bring the vibe we're going for home, I'd finish out the space with a mix of clean lines and natural materials:

And, voila, instant California cool.
